What a fantastic and energetic week of Camp Chewonki@Home! It was such a treat to see campers connecting and dancing on live calls, creating incredible fruit baskets at home, and creating kinetic art! It’s hard to think that there is just one more week of camp left this summer. The thought is made easier because we know that the connections and creativity we witnessed during Camp Chewonki@Home will continue! As camp comes to a close, make sure to complete our Final Feedback Survey to share your favorite parts of camp and let us know if there are ways you would like us help you stay connected to your fellow campers as school resumes this fall.
During live calls this week, campers were able to get some silly energy out! Our activity asked campers to throw a virtual dance party, where we danced to an original song, recorded on Chewonki’s Salt Marsh Farm, featuring the vocal stylings of our cows! This same song will be featured in a video in next week’s farm activity, so don’t miss it!
It was clear from our activity submissions that campers were energized to eat fruit this week! Several submitted images of some truly impressive watermelon fruit baskets, and made our mouths drool with the delicious looking fruit that filled them. We hope you all at home are filling yourselves with this kind of delicious, nutritious energy!
This week’s Natural History Mystery asked campers to ponder how a plant, like the pure white “Corpse” or Pipe plant, could survive without any chlorophyll! We have come to expect incredible thought and curiosity from our campers, and this week we were so happy to see so many campers submit the correct answer to this week’s mystery! There was even a camper who spotted this strange and marvelous plant while on a hike this week and shared their find with us.
Thank you to campers who have shared their work with us this week! Please send us more highlights of the activities you have done, and what camp at home has been like for you this summer. You can view camper submissions from this past week here. Also, this is your last week to submit criteria to earn activity area patches!
Don’t forget to visit Chapin Hall to submit anything you have been working on at home and view what your friends have been doing this week!
We are looking for your feedback! Please follow the link to share your thoughts on this week’s activities! Each week we will provide a feedback form in our end of week update email.
